As per breaking news, two AT&T fiber cables in the Bay Area were cut early Thursday morning, and AT&T is offering $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, according to a news release from the company.
The cables were cut in manholes at the intersection of Old County Road and Varian Road in San Carlos, and at the intersection of Monterey Highway and Blossom Hill Road overpass in San Jose.
The vandalism lead to widespread phone, internet and ATM outages in the southern part of Santa Clara County, but service was restored by 7 p.m. on Thursday. No outages were detected in San Carlos.
